Twins Place All-Star Byron Buxton on 10-Day Injured List

Jul 29 2025

The Minnesota Twins announced Tuesday that All-Star center fielder Byron Buxton has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a rib injury.

This decision, retroactive to Sunday, follows Buxton's exit from Saturday's game against the Washington Nationals in the seventh inning, where he experienced discomfort in his side. An MRI conducted on Sunday confirmed irritation in the cartilage of his rib cage.

Buxton is enjoying a standout season, boasting a .282 batting average with 23 home runs and 59 RBIs over 85 games. His performance has also included a perfect record in stolen bases, going 17 for 17.

At 31 years old, Buxton has largely maintained his health this season, a notable achievement given his injury history. Since appearing in 140 games in 2017, he has not surpassed 102 games in any subsequent season.

Earlier this season, Buxton spent 15 days on the injured list due to a concussion but made a strong comeback, earning his second selection to the All-Star Game.
