Vikings' Jordan Addison Receives Three-Game Suspension from NFL

Aug 05 2025

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison has been handed a three-game suspension by the NFL for breaching the league's personal conduct policy, stemming from a DUI incident last year.

Last month, Addison entered a no contest plea to a lesser charge, avoiding trial after being arrested on July 12, 2024. A California Highway Patrol officer discovered him asleep in his vehicle, which was obstructing traffic on an interstate exit near Los Angeles International Airport.

Before the suspension takes effect, Addison will be allowed to participate in practice and exhibition games. His absence will be felt during matchups against Chicago, Atlanta, and Cincinnati.

Selected as the 23rd pick in the 2023 draft, Addison has made a significant impact in his first two seasons, recording 19 touchdowns and 1,786 receiving yards. He has formed a formidable partnership with two-time All-Pro Justin Jefferson. However, his career has been marred by off-field issues, including an arrest for excessive speeding just prior to his rookie training camp. Following his DUI arrest last offseason, Addison expressed remorse and gratitude towards the Vikings for their support during what he described as a "dark place."

With Addison sidelined for the initial three games, new starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy will rely on depth receivers like Jalen Nailor, rookie Tai Felton, and potentially Rondale Moore, who is recovering from ACL rehabilitation. Tight ends T.J. Hockenson and Josh Oliver, along with running back Aaron Jones, are also expected to play crucial roles in maintaining offensive balance and preventing defenses from focusing solely on Jefferson.

Completing his college career at USC after starting at Pittsburgh, Addison matched Odell Beckham Jr. for the fourth-most touchdown receptions in NFL history by players before their 23rd birthday. Only Randy Moss (28), Rob Gronkowski (27), and Ja'Marr Chase (22) have recorded more touchdowns at that age.
