The New York Yankees are set to celebrate the iconic sitcom "Seinfeld" this summer with a special event featuring a George Costanza bobblehead giveaway. This themed night is scheduled for Thursday, August 21, at 7:15 p.m., coinciding with a matchup against the Boston Red Sox.
The first 18,000 attendees will receive a unique bobblehead depicting Jason Alexander's character in a classic pose—sleeping under his desk. The desk itself features a memorable quote from Costanza, which reads, "I love a good nap. Sometimes it's the only thing getting me out of bed in the morning."
In the beloved series, Costanza served as the assistant to the traveling secretary for the Yankees, showcasing his quirky antics throughout the show's run. One notable episode, titled "The Nap," highlights his ingenious yet comical solution to his napping dilemma: he has a carpenter modify his desk for discreet snoozing.
However, chaos ensues when a fictional version of former Yankees owner George Steinbrenner begins monitoring his office. In a desperate attempt to clear the area, Costanza persuades his friend Jerry Seinfeld to call in a bomb threat, hoping to distract Steinbrenner. The plan backfires spectacularly when the "bomber" demands that the Yankees host a "fitted hat day," leaving Costanza scrambling to manage hat sizes for thousands of fans.
This isn't the Yankees' first foray into "Seinfeld" celebrations; last July, they hosted a similar event featuring bobbleheads that commemorated Costanza's memorable batting tips to Derek Jeter and Bernie Williams.
