Agustín Ramírez Powers Marlins to Victory Over Yankees
Agustín Ramírez showcased his power at the plate, launching two solo home runs that secured a 2-0 victory for the Miami Marlins against the New York Yankees on Saturday.
On the mound, Eury Pérez delivered a stellar performance, pitching six innings and allowing just two hits. This win marked the Marlins' fourth consecutive victory and clinched the series after a thrilling 13-12 win in Friday's opener.
Pérez, who faced some initial challenges with his pitchcom device that led to three brief delays in the first inning, managed to strike out six batters while walking three during his 88-pitch outing. His record improved to 4-3 with this performance.
Relief pitchers Ronny Henriquez and Tyler Phillips followed Pérez with flawless innings, and Calvin Faucher closed the game by retiring all three batters he faced in the ninth, earning his 11th save of the season.
The Marlins have been on a roll, winning six straight series and boasting a remarkable 29-14 record since June 13.
Ramírez wasted no time making an impact, hitting a fastball from Yankees starter Cam Schlittler 421 feet into the left-center field seats in the first inning for his 16th home run of the season. He added another solo shot against Schlittler in the fourth inning.
Schlittler, making his fourth major league start after being called up from Triple-A on July 9, allowed two runs and four hits while striking out six over five innings, bringing his record to 1-2.

Saturday's game drew an announced attendance of 34,645, surpassing the Marlins' previous season-high of 32,299 set during Friday's game against New York.
Pérez demonstrated his skill on the mound by striking out Ryan McMahon and retiring Anthony Volpe on a groundout after allowing a one-out double to Ben Rice and walking Paul Goldschmidt in the fifth inning.
In a notable defensive play, Marlins left fielder Kyle Stowers recorded his sixth assist of the season by throwing out Trent Grisham at home plate as he attempted to score from second base on Giancarlo Stanton's single in the first inning.
Looking ahead, RHP Luis Gil is set to make his season debut for the Yankees in Sunday’s series finale. The reigning AL Rookie of the Year has been sidelined since spring training due to a lat strain. The Marlins will counter with RHP Edward Cabrera, who holds a record of 4-5 with a 3.35 ERA.
