Andy Reid Comments on Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's Engagement
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid addressed the recent engagement of tight end Travis Kelce to pop superstar Taylor Swift during a press conference on August 29. “I’m happy for them,” Reid stated, reflecting on the couple's relationship.
Reid, 67, emphasized the rarity of finding true love, saying, “It’s hard to find somebody that you fall in love with. That’s not an easy thing, to really fall in love. And it seems like they’re there. I think it’s a great deal for both of them.”
He noted their compatibility, adding, “They like being around each other. That’s a plus, I think. They’re both busy people in their own right. Both are very famous in their own right. It’s kinda neat that they come together and handle themselves the way they do.”
The couple, both 35, announced their engagement on August 26 through an Instagram post featuring a series of photos from the proposal, which took place in Kelce’s backyard in Kansas City. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” they humorously captioned the images.
Reid has been married to his wife, Tammy, since 1981, providing him with a long-term perspective on relationships. The news of Kelce and Swift's engagement resonated throughout Chiefs Kingdom, prompting immediate reactions from teammates.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was quick to respond via his Instagram Story, sharing an engagement photo of the couple adorned with three red-heart emojis. His wife, Brittany Mahomes, who has developed a friendship with Swift, also expressed her joy online.
Brittany wrote, “Two of the most genuine people meet & fall in love. Just so happy for these two.”

Defensive lineman Mike Danna shared his excitement shortly after learning about the engagement. “I just got told 30 seconds ago,” Danna remarked to reporters. “But that’s awesome. I’m so happy for them — Trav, Taylor, that’s a wonderful time in their life. A wonderful part of their journey. That’s a beautiful thing to see.”
Danna mentioned he had met Swift “once or twice” and expressed optimism about their future together. “That’s a great thing to see,” he added. “Seeing them settle down, seeing all [those] happy smiles and happy faces between the two.”
Swift and Kelce made their first public appearance as an engaged couple on August 29 at Arrowhead Stadium, attending a game featuring Kelce’s alma mater, the Cincinnati Bearcats, against the University of Nebraska.
As the Chiefs prepare for the upcoming NFL season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil on September 5, the excitement surrounding Kelce and Swift's engagement continues to capture attention.
