Travis Kelce's Proposal to Taylor Swift Surprised by Unseen Guests
Travis Kelce's proposal to Taylor Swift unfolded with an unexpected twist—hidden spectators.
Ed Kelce, Travis' father, shared insights about the intimate moment that almost went awry due to some uninvited guests who had to quickly conceal themselves.
“They were going to go out to dinner and she was ready to go,” Ed, 74, recounted during an appearance on Australia’s The Jimmy & Nath Show. “Travis said, ‘Let’s go out in the garden.’”
As the couple prepared for their evening, Travis, 35, suggested enjoying a glass of wine on the patio of his Kansas City residence before heading out.
“As they approached, she could see suddenly there’s a lot more flowers out there,” Ed noted, hinting that Taylor, 35, sensed something special was about to happen. “You see the way that’s decorated.”
According to Ed, the elaborate floral arrangements were orchestrated by Travis' team, who scrambled to finalize the setup just in time.
“They actually saw [Travis and Taylor] coming,” Ed explained. “They hid in the bushes so they weren’t part of it.”
The couple announced their engagement on Instagram shortly after the proposal, sharing a carousel of photos from the garden setting. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” the post humorously declared.

In an interview with ABC affiliate News 5 Cleveland, Ed revealed that the engagement took place “not quite two weeks ago.”
“He was going to put it off till this week… but I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event,” Ed advised his son. “When you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.”
Following the proposal, both Ed and Travis' mother, Donna Kelce, received calls from the newly engaged couple.
“They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew,” Ed shared with News 5 Cleveland. “So, to see them together is great.”
Ed was at a Philadelphia Eagles practice when he received the call.
“As soon as I saw the FaceTime, I saw it was Travis, and then I saw Taylor there with him,” Ed recalled. “I knew what they were going to say, and they let us know.”
