Athletics Break Ground on New Las Vegas Stadium
The Oakland Athletics took a significant step toward their relocation to Las Vegas on Monday, marking the start of construction for their new ballpark.
Owner John Fisher, alongside MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred and other dignitaries, participated in the groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the former Tropicana Hotel.
Since departing from the Oakland Coliseum, the A's journey has been marked by uncertainty and speculation, but this event signifies a new chapter.
The planned stadium will accommodate 33,000 fans, a substantial increase from the 14,000-seat capacity of their current temporary home at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento.

For now, the A's will continue to play in Sacramento for two more seasons, with the possibility of extending to a fourth season based on construction timelines in Nevada.
Molly Riehl, a Sacramento native, expressed her excitement about sharing stories from her hometown. She previously worked at KPTV in Portland, Oregon, where she hosted and reported for the lifestyle and entertainment program, MORE Good Day Oregon.
