Ruby Rose Reveals Disturbing Details of Alleged Katy Perry Assault in Unearthed Essay
In a 2011 essay, Ruby Rose recounted a night out with Katy Perry that she claims ended in sexual assault. The piece, which has recently resurfaced, was originally published in an Australian news outlet and details Rose's struggle with sobriety alongside her experiences with the pop star.

“I had been off the grog for 30 days — my first attempt at sobriety — and I was out partying with Katy,” Rose reflected in the essay. She described her mindset that evening, thinking, “I’ll have a drink tonight, I deserve one. I mean, what’s the worst that could happen?” The answer, as she later recounted, was far from trivial: “Not stopping at one drink, or 10, and then vomiting on Katy’s foot.”

Rose indicated that this particular night served as a catalyst for her decision to stop drinking altogether. “The short answer: I threw up on Katy Perry. And that’s one of the reasons I’ve been off the grog now for almost 90 days,” she wrote. She emphasized that while nothing horrific occurred, the incident prompted her to reevaluate her choices. “Before you jump to conclusions, nothing horrific happened, nor have I been hit with a DUI — but I just had enough, and it has been one of the best decisions of my life.”
Following Rose's recent allegations on social media, representatives for both Perry and Rose have been contacted for comments. Perry has firmly denied the accusations. In a series of posts on Threads, Rose accused Perry of sexual assault at a nightclub in Melbourne during her twenties. “Katy Perry sexually assaulted me at Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s–t what she thinks,” Rose stated in response to a post about Perry's reaction to Justin Bieber’s Coachella performance.

Rose elaborated further, claiming, “She didn’t kiss me. She saw me ‘resting’ on my best friend’s lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her.” In subsequent messages, she revealed that she initially downplayed the incident as a “funny little drunk story” because she felt unprepared to confront it publicly. “Later she agreed to help me get my US visa. So I kept it a secret. But I DID tell y’all she wasn’t a good person,” Rose added.
Rose mentioned that it took her “almost two decades” to come forward with these allegations. “Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes. Thank you for seeing me,” she expressed.

Perry’s representative responded to the allegations by stating, “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies.” The statement continued by highlighting Rose's history of making serious public allegations against various individuals, all of which have been denied.
In light of Rose's claims, Australian authorities are reportedly investigating the alleged incident. Acting Sergeant Paul Hogan of Victoria Police confirmed that detectives from the Melbourne Sexual Offenses and Child Abuse Investigation Team are looking into a historical sexual assault case from 2010 that occurred in Melbourne’s Central Business District.
Since the allegations surfaced, a former manager of Spice Market has come forward, stating that both women had “too much to drink” that night but did not witness any sexual assault or vomiting as described by Rose.
