Christian Darrisaw Returns to Minicamp After Knee Injury

Christian Darrisaw was back on the practice field Tuesday, marking a significant milestone less than eight months after suffering a season-ending knee injury as the Minnesota Vikings' left tackle.

While Darrisaw participated only in individual drills during the Vikings' minicamp, this development signals a positive trajectory for a key player in the franchise's future.

The injury, which involved damage to both his ACL and MCL, occurred during a game against the Los Angeles Rams on October 24. Since being selected 23rd overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, Darrisaw has emerged as a vital component of the Vikings' offensive line. At just 26 years old, he is recognized as one of the premier tackles in the league, a status underscored by the substantial contract extension he received last offseason.

In response to Darrisaw's injury, the Vikings acquired tackle Cam Robinson from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Robinson filled in for the remainder of the season but struggled to meet the performance standards set by Darrisaw.

As for Darrisaw's readiness for the upcoming season, uncertainty looms. With Robinson now signed to the Houston Texans, the Vikings have brought in swing tackle Justin Skule and have several other candidates on their roster who could step in if needed.

The left tackle position will be crucial for whoever takes it on in Week 1, especially with J.J. McCarthy, the second-year quarterback expected to lead the team. The offensive line will see significant changes, featuring new starters at left guard (rookie Donovan Jackson), center (Ryan Kelly), and right guard (Will Fries), while veteran Brian O'Neill remains anchored at right tackle.
