Eagles Security Chief Delivers Comfort Food to Giants’ Cam Skattebo Post-Surgery

After undergoing surgery at a Philadelphia hospital, New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo received an unexpected yet heartwarming delivery. On October 27, Dom DiSandro, the Philadelphia Eagles' chief of security, brought pizza and cheesesteaks to Skattebo at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.

DiSandro, affectionately known as Big Dom, has been a fixture in the Eagles organization since 1999, earning a reputation that extends beyond his role. His presence is woven into the fabric of the franchise.

Earlier this season, DiSandro faced scrutiny when he was fined $100,000 and ejected from a game against the San Francisco 49ers after a physical altercation with player Dre Greenlaw. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni defended him, stating, “Dom is as good as they get in this business. I’m so thankful for him. He’s gonna always try to defuse situations. That’s what he does. That’s his job.”

Skattebo's injury occurred during the second quarter of the Giants' game against the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. A tackle attempt by Eagles linebacker Zack Baun resulted in a dislocated ankle for Skattebo, an injury that quickly gained attention on social media.

Despite the severity of the injury, Skattebo expressed gratitude following his surgery on Sunday. “Thank you everyone for the support!! Surgery went well. I just want to thank the city of Philly for taking the best care of me,” he shared on X. He continued, “This is just the beginning of my journey and I can’t wait to show you guys all about it!!! GOD has a plan for me, stick the course and it will all work itself out.”

His girlfriend, Chloe Rodriguez, echoed his sentiments on her Instagram Story, sharing his message with a blue heart emoji.

While Skattebo will miss the remainder of his rookie season, NFL insider Ian Rapoport provided a hopeful outlook for his recovery. “If all is good and clean and the surgery went as well as everyone believes, he should be back with no issues for next year,” Rapoport noted on X. “It’s a gruesome injury, but the recovery is actually not as bad.”

Reflecting on Skattebo's injury, Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart expressed his concern during postgame comments. “It’s my boy, man, so seeing him go down and obviously reacting to what happened, that sucks,” Dart said. “It’s the worst part of this game.”

Giants head coach Brian Daboll confirmed on Monday that Skattebo is recovering well but acknowledged the impact of his absence. “All went well, he’s recovering, and obviously he’ll be missed. On the road to recovery,” Daboll stated.

The Giants are set to face the 49ers on Sunday, November 2, without their rookie running back.
