Families Unite at Citizens Bank Park for Father's Day Celebration
Gathering at Citizens Bank Park, families traded traditional brunches and backyard barbecues for a day of baseball, celebrating Father's Day with the Philadelphia Phillies.
For Buck DeSantis from Conshohocken, this outing has become a cherished annual event.
"It's America's old pastime," he remarked, flanked by his father, Richie, and his 8-year-old son, Chase.
Since 2019, the DeSantis family has made it a point to attend the game every Father's Day, a tradition that began when Chase was just beginning to create memories of the ballpark.
This year, Buck's daughter Layla joined the festivities, describing her father as "kind, nice and always there when I need him."
Throughout the parking lot, children of all ages shared reflections on their fathers' unique qualities.
Emily Augugliaro, attending with her extended family, noted that her husband embodies many traits of her own father.
"Just always present… even if they're not home all day long," she explained. "Making the time that they're home count."
As conversations flowed, many fathers revealed what parenting has imparted to them—one lesson resonated above the rest.
"Patience," stated Ramon Turner emphatically.
"Patience, for sure," echoed Sal Colosi, reinforcing the sentiment.
Meanwhile, Tyler Galbreth from Lancaster County celebrated with friends in the parking lot, grilling and enjoying camaraderie.
"We're all dads sent away by our wives... to appreciate the fatherhood that we provided," Galbreth said. "I can't say that fatherhood is any more of an amazing honor than it is, so what better way to spend it with great men in battle in the fatherhood that it is."
The day culminated in a triumphant victory for the Phillies, who defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 11-4, completing a three-game sweep.
