Giants End Losing Streak with 6-5 Victory Over Diamondbacks
In a thrilling finish, Patrick Bailey's sacrifice fly in the 10th inning propelled the San Francisco Giants to a 6-5 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night, ending their four-game losing streak.
The Giants appeared to be in control, leading 5-3 as they entered the ninth inning. However, Geraldo Perdomo ignited a rally with a leadoff single. Ketel Marte, who had just been named an All-Star starter earlier that day, followed with a dramatic homer to right field, tying the game at five with his 18th home run of the season.
In the 10th, the Giants regained the lead when Bailey's fly ball to center field allowed Jung Ho Lee to score after Lee advanced to third on an infield single by Heliot Ramos. Camilo Doval (4-2) closed out the game, securing the win for San Francisco.
Mike Yastrzemski set the tone early, hitting a home run on the second pitch of the game, sending a fastball into the right field seats. Lee later tripled, bringing Wilmer Flores home and extending the Giants' lead to 2-0 in the first inning.
Rafael Devers added to the Giants' advantage in the fifth with an RBI single, pushing the score to 3-0. However, Alek Thomas responded for Arizona with a leadoff homer in the seventh, narrowing the gap to 3-1. The next three batters reached base against Landen Roupp, but lefty Erik Miller managed to limit the damage, allowing only a sacrifice fly from Josh Naylor and preserving a slim 3-2 lead.

Merrill Kelly of the Diamondbacks pitched six innings, surrendering three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three batters. In a critical moment during the seventh inning, reliever Randy Rodriguez faced pressure as Arizona's first two batters reached base. He skillfully escaped by striking out Tim Tawa and inducing Naylor into a double play.
Perdomo had an impressive night at the plate, reaching base five times through three hits and two walks. The series concludes Thursday night as the Giants send former Arizona left-hander Robbie Ray (8-3, 2.75 ERA) to face off against D-backs right-hander Brandon Pfaadt (8-5, 5.38 ERA).
