Giants Rookie Cam Skattebo Carted Off After Severe Ankle Injury

Oct 26 2025

During the second quarter of the game against the Philadelphia Eagles on October 26, New York Giants rookie Cam Skattebo suffered a severe ankle injury that led to his immediate removal from the field.

On a critical 2nd down and 16 play, Skattebo attempted to catch a pass but was tackled awkwardly by Eagles linebacker Zack Baun. The impact caused Skattebo's ankle to become trapped, resulting in a dislocation.

As he sat on the turf, visibly in distress, his teammates quickly signaled for medical assistance. Eyewitnesses noted that his right ankle was grotesquely twisted, prompting urgent care.

The medical staff arrived promptly, placing Skattebo's ankle in an aircast before transporting him off the field. As he was carted away, his teammates offered support, and he received a standing ovation from the crowd at Lincoln Financial Field.

Reports from sources indicated that Skattebo was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. The full extent of his injury remains unclear.

Giants head coach Brian Daboll expressed his concern for Skattebo, stating, “I feel absolutely terrible for the young man. It looked bad. You feel for anybody on your team that goes down with a serious injury.”

Teammates rallied around Skattebo during the incident, though some were visibly shaken by the severity of the injury.

Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, who has developed a strong rapport with Skattebo, was particularly affected. Upon realizing the gravity of the situation, Dart turned away in distress, expressing his feelings with expletives and taking a knee in respect.

“I was devastated,” Dart shared post-game. “That’s my boy. Seeing him go down... it just sucks. It’s the worst part of this game.”

As Skattebo was being taken off, Dart made sure to perform their signature headbutt handshake, a gesture of camaraderie they often share after successful plays.

Daboll acknowledged the bond between Dart and Skattebo, noting how tough it is for everyone involved when a teammate suffers such an injury. “It’s a contact sport, and unfortunately there are injuries,” he added.

Despite a challenging 2-6 season start, both Skattebo and Dart have emerged as standout rookies, showcasing their skills on the field since stepping into starting roles mid-season.

Skattebo has been a bright spot for the Giants, contributing significantly with seven touchdowns this season and energizing both his team and fans alike. Earlier in the game, he had already scored on an 18-yard pass from Dart.

To date, he has accumulated 398 rushing yards and 189 receiving yards in his rookie campaign.

The Eagles ultimately defeated the Giants 38-20.
