Lala Kent's Former Assistant Jessica Walter Opens Up About Sudden Departure
Lala Kent's former assistant, Jessica Walter, has decided to speak out about the circumstances that led to her sudden departure from working for the reality star.
During the premiere of her "Date My" podcast on Tuesday, January 7, Walter took the opportunity to shed light on the reasons behind her unexpected exit.
"I want to address those who I believe are the majority of the audience tuning in right now, who I am truly thankful for. These are my loves. These are my friends who know me from the last podcast I appeared on," she expressed, referring to Kent's "Give Them Lala" podcast. "I want to take a moment to speak to you all because I seemingly vanished from that last podcast."
Walter felt compelled to provide an "explanation" for her sudden disappearance, stating, "First and foremost, I want to clarify that no, I did not anticipate leaving. That was not the plan. To be honest, I thought I would be at that job forever. I was prepared to commit long-term. Perhaps not in the same role, but definitely within the company."
Reflecting on her time working with Kent, who is 34 years old, Walter emphasized that she had put her heart and soul into her job, both professionally and personally.
"I had invested everything I had in that job, believing in a future that I thought we were all aligned on," she elaborated. "Essentially, what transpired is that I expressed my concerns about certain aspects of how things were being managed, and the response I received, in my opinion, was not favorable. The reactions I encountered truly caught me off guard."
Recalling feeling "devastated" by the response, Walter shared, "I found myself in a position where I felt I had no choice but to make the decision to depart."
Kent disclosed Walter's unexpected departure on her "Give Them Lala" podcast in November 2024. Following inquiries from Vanderpump Rules fans about potential discord between the two, Kent hinted at a rift.
"It's quite astonishing because it's like, 'Where were you when she was on the podcast?' Nowhere to be found. All I heard was, 'Get her off.' Ultimately, she was my employee," Kent remarked on the "Not Skinny But Not Fat" podcast in December 2024. "She wanted to move on and pursue her own path. I would be irrational not to say, 'Go and achieve everything you aspire to achieve.' I struggle to articulate this."
Kent clarified that she had no intentions of having Walter share her perspective on the "Give Them Lala" podcast.
"Ultimately, she was an employee of Lala Kent. You are no longer an employee. I wish you the best. Live a wonderful life," she added. "I have gleaned valuable lessons from various relationships in my life, from my former fiancé to certain friends I've had, to employees I've worked with. Every encounter I've had in the past few years has taught me something. I have no regrets, but I have learned how to approach things differently."
On her part, Walter launched her own podcast to establish a platform for herself.
"At times, we pour our entire selves into a relationship, giving it our all," she articulated on Tuesday. "And in the end, perhaps we don't receive what we believe we deserve. What we believe we deserve could be as simple as not having our back. It can be perplexing and frustrating for individuals like me because all those times I supported you and had your back, and in moments where I expected the same, I didn't receive it."
Walter clarified that she was content with how she handled the situation.
"We can opt to continue on a path in life within a relationship with individuals where things may not be progressing as we hoped, but we think, 'Let's see where this leads.' And that's acceptable. That's your choice because it's your life," she shared. "Others may decide to step back and acknowledge, 'Nothing here will change regardless of my efforts.' Or, 'Nothing here will shift in this direction, or align with this path, no matter how hard I try.'"
She added, "I firmly believe that if you make decisions based on kindness, purpose, and the betterment of yourself, others, and the world, you will ultimately be rewarded. The reward may come immediately or further down the road."
