Senators Snap Losing Streak with Thrilling 5-3 Win Over Sharks

Mar 02 2025

In an exciting matchup on Saturday night, the Ottawa Senators triumphed over the San Jose Sharks with a score of 5-3, effectively ending their five-game losing streak. Tim Stutzle continued his impressive performance, scoring a goal and providing an assist, which kept his 11-game point streak alive. The return of Brady Tkachuk and Shane Pinto to the lineup also proved pivotal, as both players found the back of the net.

The game didn’t start in the Senators' favor, as they found themselves trailing 2-1 heading into the third period. However, they turned the tide with a strong finish, scoring two goals within just 94 seconds to take the lead. Tkachuk capitalized on a two-man advantage to tie the game, and shortly after, a fortunate bounce allowed Stutzle to net his 19th goal of the season.

In addition to Tkachuk and Stutzle, David Perron and Michael Amadio also contributed goals for the Senators. Goalie Linus Ullmark was solid in net, stopping 34 shots to secure his first win since December 19.

On the Sharks' side, Tyler Toffoli, Timothy Liljegren, and Will Smith each scored, while Vitek Vanecek made 27 saves. Despite controlling the game for significant stretches, the Sharks struggled to contain the Senators when it mattered most.

While the Senators didn’t play their best overall game, they effectively capitalized on their scoring opportunities, particularly during a crucial two-man advantage in the third period. Stutzle's remarkable point streak now stands at 16 points, comprising four goals and 12 assists.

Looking ahead, the Sharks are set to visit Toronto on Monday, while the Senators will head to Washington for their next matchup.
