Teacher Accused of Sexually Abusing Juvenile Inmate and Soliciting Husband's Murder

Apr 04 2025

A 27-year-old teacher from Adair County, Kentucky, named Elena Bardin, has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a juvenile inmate at a detention center where she was employed and attempting to enlist the boy to murder her husband.

According to Kentucky State Police, the disturbing discovery was made during a standard search of the boy’s room at the Adair County juvenile detention center. Authorities found “letters and explicit material” purportedly sent by Bardin, who worked at the facility. While the boy’s age was not disclosed, police claim that evidence pointed to Bardin engaging in illegal sexual contact with the juvenile and supplying him with sexually explicit images of herself.

Further investigation revealed that Bardin had also “solicited” the same juvenile to kill her husband, though details about the method of the request or her motive remain undisclosed. There is no indication that any attempts were made on her husband’s life.

Bardin was taken into custody on Wednesday and faces charges of solicitation of murder, first-degree sexual abuse, and distributing obscene matter to minors. She is currently being held at the Adair County Detention Center without bond, per jail records.

The juvenile involved in the case has not been charged with any offenses at this time. His age and the reason for his detention were not specified.
