Louis Rees-Zammit may not have secured a spot on the Kansas City Chiefs' 2024-25 roster, but he walked away with a memorable parting gift that came straight from the heart of pop sensation Taylor Swift.

The 23-year-old Welsh rugby star was released by the Chiefs in August before getting a chance to showcase his skills in the regular season. However, his time with the team was marked by a special gesture from Taylor Swift, who is romantically linked to Chiefs' tight end, Travis Kelce.

During an interview on RugbyPass TV, Rees-Zammit shared, "I went to her concert and I got a handwritten note from her. Pretty crazy, right?"

Rees-Zammit, a celebrated rugby player who temporarily left the sport to pursue his NFL dream, attended Swift's Eras Tour in Cardiff, Wales, his hometown, in June.

Reflecting on the heartfelt letter he received, Rees-Zammit mentioned, "This was before training camp, so it was like, 'Good luck for the season, good luck for training camp. Heard you're doing well.' Just stuff like that. That was pretty cool."

Although Rees-Zammit didn't make it to the Chiefs' final roster, he found a new home with the Jacksonville Jaguars after his release. He revealed that the cherished note from Swift is safely kept back in Cardiff, smiling as he mentioned, "I didn't bring it out to America with me."

During the interview, Rees-Zammit also praised the culture and camaraderie fostered within the Chiefs organization by veterans like Travis Kelce, 35, and star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Recalling his initial days with the Chiefs, Rees-Zammit shared, "When I signed, I went home for 10 days and got to see some friends before I actually flew back out to Kansas City. I had a message from both Travis and Patrick on Instagram welcoming me to the team."

Adapting to the presence of accomplished football icons like Kelce and Mahomes took some getting used to for the rugby star. "It was pretty crazy the first time I'd seen them in person, but then they're your teammates," he said. "I got used to it pretty quick. We built connections. We did stuff off the field. That's what the Chiefs are very good at, the bonding off the field."

Rees-Zammit emphasized, "They're just normal people. They're so humble. You see all this stuff in the media, how big they are. But they are the most humble people that I've ever met."

Despite not yet making it to the Jaguars' active roster after joining the practice squad in August, Rees-Zammit remains determined and prepared for any opportunity that comes his way. "I'm learning quick and I'm working hard every single day," he affirmed in an interview with Jaguars.com's John Oehser.

Impressing Jaguars' offensive coordinator Press Taylor with his dedication, Rees-Zammit's transition from running back to wide receiver has been noteworthy. Taylor, 36, commended the young athlete, stating, "It's been fun just to watch him grow in football. Every single week, you just see him get a little bit better—throughout the drill portions into when he's on the scout team serving the defense. He's hungry for it. He is talented."

Taylor added, "It's new to him. Take anybody and drop him in a new sport at the professional level, there's going to be a lot of learning. But he does have some physical skill set that's fun to see and see what he can become moving forward."

Despite the twists and turns in his athletic journey, Louis Rees-Zammit's encounter with Taylor Swift's thoughtful gesture and his resilience in pursuing his NFL dream showcase the blend of sportsmanship, celebrity connections, and unwavering determination in the world of professional sports.
