Streamer Johnny Somali Accused of Threatening Sexual Assault Against Female Streamers in Deleted VOD

Dec 06 2024

Streamer Johnny Somali, also known as Ramsey Khalid Ismael, is embroiled in a legal storm in South Korea. Accused of obstruction of business and a slew of other offenses, including violating anti-terrorism laws, drug use, creating AI deepfakes, breaching the Railroad Act, and spreading North Korean propaganda, Somali's legal woes seem to be mounting.

The latest development in this saga involves a deleted video where Somali is seen allegedly making threats of sexual assault against female streamers outside a pizza shop in Seoul. The video, initially removed by Somali, resurfaced, sparking outrage and potential legal repercussions.

In the contentious video, shared by YouTube personality Legal Mindset, Somali is depicted causing a scene outside ABC Pizza, confronting Kick streamers Moxie and Xena. While the streamer muted his microphone during the altercation, he inadvertently unmuted it, revealing disturbing comments suggesting he knew individuals who might commit sexual assault against Moxie.

Legal Mindset, analyzing the situation, highlighted that even though Somali attempted to shield himself by muting his mic initially and mentioning third parties, the implied threat of sexual assault remains a serious issue that could have legal consequences.

During the broadcast, Moxie urgently sought help, alleging that Somali had threatened her, pleading for assistance. Subsequently, Somali's behavior escalated, with him allegedly making menacing remarks towards Xena and threatening physical violence against both creators.

Legal Mindset further explained that the incident at the pizza shop constituted another instance of Somali obstructing a business, a charge he already faces following a tumultuous broadcast at a 7-Eleven store. The lawyer emphasized that Somali's indirect threat of sexual assault, by suggesting others would carry out the act, holds the same weight legally as if he had made the threat himself.

These serious allegations come at a time when Somali is prohibited from leaving South Korea until all accusations against him are thoroughly investigated, tried, or dismissed. His first court appearance is slated for December 20, with additional charges expected to be levied as prosecutors pursue the case with unusual speed and determination.

Johnny Somali's legal entanglements serve as a cautionary tale about the repercussions of online behavior and the importance of accountability in the digital age. The incident underscores the need for streamers and online personalities to adhere to ethical standards and respect boundaries, both online and offline, to avoid legal ramifications and safeguard the well-being of others.
