Florida Man Receives 30-Year Sentence for Sending Explicit Photos to Minors
A Florida man, Daniel Carson Miller, has been handed a 30-year federal prison sentence for his involvement in sending and receiving sexually explicit images from almost 100 children. The 30-year-old engaged in online chats with minors between June and December 19, 2023, masquerading as a teenager himself, as per the Department of Justice.
The case unraveled in June 2023 when a concerned parent alerted law enforcement about Miller's deceptive online behavior. Pretending to be a 16-year-old, Miller engaged in explicit conversations with a 13-year-old, coercing the minor into sharing sexually explicit images. The DOJ highlighted Miller's manipulation, which led the child to reciprocate by sending explicit photos and videos back to him.
In November 2023, the FBI delved into Miller's social media activities, uncovering multiple conversations where he sent unsolicited genital images to minors and solicited explicit content from them.
A subsequent search of Miller's residence in December 2023 revealed shocking details. Miller confessed to soliciting sexual materials from approximately 100 minors and shockingly admitted to sending his genital photos to around 200 minors. The DOJ reported that Miller resorted to emotional manipulation, at times threatening self-harm to coerce children into sharing explicit images.
Following a guilty plea on August 20, Miller received not only the 30-year prison sentence but also a lifetime of supervised release. Additionally, he is mandated to register as a sex offender, marking the severe consequences of his abhorrent actions.
