Jodie Turner-Smith Calls Out Joshua Jackson for Alleged Child Support Neglect
Jodie Turner-Smith has taken a bold step by accusing her estranged husband, Joshua Jackson, of failing to meet his child support obligations for their 4-year-old daughter, Juno. The "Queen & Slim" actress has raised concerns in court documents obtained by TMZ, alleging that the "Dawson's Creek" alum has not been fulfilling his promise to provide financial support during their divorce.
In the legal filings, Turner-Smith, 38, claimed that Jackson, 46, had assured her of continuous financial support, emphasizing his understanding of the challenges faced by Black women and single mothers. She expressed disappointment that Jackson, who reportedly earned more than her during their four-year marriage, has allegedly been prolonging the divorce proceedings, resulting in escalating legal expenses for her.
The actress, known for her role in "Doctor Odyssey," is seeking $8,543 per month in retroactive child support from the date of her initial filing in October 2023. Additionally, Turner-Smith is requesting $28,641 monthly in spousal support while the divorce is pending, along with a lump sum of $250,000 to cover legal fees and related costs.
Despite attempts to reach out to Jackson's representative by Page Six, there has been no immediate response to these allegations.
Turner-Smith initiated the divorce proceedings from the "Mighty Ducks" actor in October 2023, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. She has requested joint physical custody of Juno, their daughter born in April 2020.
According to a source cited by Us Weekly, Jackson was reportedly taken aback by the divorce filing, indicating that he did not perceive their marital issues as insurmountable. However, in a surprising turn of events, Jackson was spotted with "Black Panther" star Lupita Nyong'o at Janelle Monáe's "The Age of Pleasure" tour stop in Inglewood, California, shortly after the divorce filing.
By December of the same year, Jackson and Nyong'o confirmed their relationship by publicly displaying affection during a leisurely walk in Joshua Tree, California. Despite sharing moments like celebrating Nyong'o's 41st birthday in March, the actress later revealed her single status a few months down the line.
Turner-Smith and Jackson first crossed paths at his birthday celebration in 2018, eventually leading to a discreet engagement less than a year later. The couple exchanged vows in December 2019, marking the beginning of their marital journey.
