Knicks Celebrate NBA Cup Victory with Star-Studded FaceTime
The New York Knicks secured their first championship since 1973 on December 16, triumphing in the NBA Cup against the San Antonio Spurs with a score of 124-113. This victory, while not the NBA Finals, brought much-needed joy to a long-suffering fanbase.
Among those celebrating was actor Timothée Chalamet, a dedicated Knicks supporter. After the game, Karl-Anthony Towns, who contributed 16 points and 11 rebounds despite battling a calf injury, reached out to Chalamet via FaceTime from Las Vegas. Towns shared a screenshot of their conversation on Instagram, captioning it, “Marty Supreme approved.”
In a show of camaraderie, Towns also connected with fellow Knicks fan Ben Stiller. Notably, Spike Lee, the iconic figure synonymous with Knicks fandom, was present courtside, soaking in the atmosphere of the momentous game.

Chalamet's presence at Madison Square Garden during the Knicks’ playoff run was hard to miss. He and girlfriend Kylie Jenner donned Knicks apparel during the Eastern Conference Finals against the Indiana Pacers, even facing some boos when they cheered for their team in Indiana.
Before Game 4, ESPN’s Pat McAfee rallied the crowd by highlighting the celebrity presence: “Spike Lee is here. Ben Stiller is here. Timothée Chalamet is here. Let’s send these sons of b****es back to New York!” The crowd responded with jeers, and the Pacers ultimately defeated the Knicks that night, 130-121.
Stiller later commented on social media about the experience, suggesting that while he appreciated the enthusiasm, the sentiment felt somewhat outdated. “If it’s an actual point of view it seems a little anachronistic or cliché? Like we are ‘big city celebs’ and we shouldn’t be there in the heartland?” he reflected.
After celebrating with his teammates and stars over FaceTime, Towns reunited with his girlfriend Jordyn Woods, who had traveled to support him. The couple began dating in 2020, and Woods has been a consistent presence at Towns’ games since his time with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Recently, Woods surprised Towns for his 30th birthday with a refurbished version of his late mother’s car. Towns lost his mother in 2020 due to COVID-19 complications, along with several other family members. Woods recounted on Instagram how she embarked on a mission to find and restore the car that held sentimental value for Towns.
“During the summer Karl asked me if I could drive any car for a day which one would it be.. I answered and his response was, ‘I wouldn’t pick anything crazy, I just really loved my mom’s car she had when I was a kid,’” Woods shared alongside photos of the surprise.

“So I went on a mission these past months to find the car, shipped it across the country, got it fixed up and was able to surprise him with it today for his 30th!” she added.
