Knicks Fans Celebrate Outside Madison Square Garden Following Game 5 Victory
New York City buzzed with excitement as fans flooded Seventh Avenue, celebrating the Knicks' commanding 111-94 victory over the Indiana Pacers in Game 5 on Thursday night.

With the season hanging in the balance, supporters of the Knicks expressed renewed optimism that this would not be their last home game of the year. “I’m feeling confident. I feel reborn. At first, I was kind of iffy, but Knicks in seven is alive,” said Dan Sindo, 20, who attended the game with his girlfriend.

Erik Blutinger, 39, an emergency physician at Mount Sinai, echoed the sentiment: “Amazing. This is a once-in-a-lifetime moment. We haven’t won the series. We got a long way to go, still, but, oh my God.” His birthday celebration took on a special meaning as he reflected on his long-standing loyalty to the team.

“There’s one team in New York — it is the New York Knicks. I’ve been a Knicks fan since the Ewing era. I was too little. I wasn’t even born when they made the finals in 1970 and ‘73. Now it’s in sight. There’s hope again,” he added.

Among the revelers was Henry Wang, 24, who brought a life-sized stuffed doll of Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton to the festivities outside Madison Square Garden. Haliburton had previously frustrated Knicks fans in Game 1, but on this night, fans took their frustrations out on the effigy. “The doll did not last even seven minutes. He got completely disemboweled. He got jumped. They pantsed him. And then the cops took him, which is classic New York fashion,” Wang recounted.

Videos circulated online showing fans forming a circle around the plush doll, unleashing their pent-up emotions by stomping it into pieces.

Amidst the chaos, enthusiastic fans shouted their support for the team. “Don’t get me started! We’re getting f–-king lit! The streets are getting teared down! Knicks in seven!” exclaimed Budders, a 19-year-old UConn student.

In a colorful twist, a man dressed as Spiderman, identifying himself as “Peter Parker,” joined in the chants: “Knicks in seven! We love the Knicks and f–k Tyrese Haliburton.”

However, not all fans were swept up in the euphoria. One voice of caution emerged from the crowd: “Why is everyone celebrating? We still got another game,” a fan remarked while exiting the arena.

Earlier in the evening, tensions flared when a Knicks fan was handcuffed after tearing a jersey off a Pacers supporter during an argument captured on video.

Despite that incident, the atmosphere remained largely festive without any major altercations among the throngs of jubilant fans. The Knicks now prepare to head back to Indiana for Game 6 on Saturday, with hopes of forcing a decisive Game 7 back at Madison Square Garden on Monday.
