Katy Knoll netted the decisive goal in the third overtime, while Maddie Rooney showcased her skills with 35 saves, leading the Minnesota Frost to a 2-1 victory against the Ottawa Charge on Saturday night. This win grants the Frost a 2-1 advantage in the PWHL championship series, marking the third consecutive game that has gone into overtime.

With a chance to clinch the best-of-five series, the defending Walter Cup champions will aim for their second straight title in Game 4 at Xcel Energy Center on Monday.

Ottawa's Gwyneth Philips delivered an impressive performance, recording 45 saves throughout the match.

The game-winning moment came 9:57 into the third overtime when Klara Hymlarova's shot from the point was blocked by Philips. Knoll capitalized on the rebound, executing a back-hand putback from right in front of the net.

Earlier in the match, Emily Clark opened the scoring with 8:22 remaining in the first period. Gabbie Hughes threaded a pass through four Frost players, allowing Clark to convert with a one-timer from close range.

Lee Stecklein equalized for Ottawa just 2:58 into the third quarter, receiving a drop pass from Claire Thompson and firing a wrist shot from just inside the blue line.

The series began with Ottawa edging out Minnesota 2-1 in overtime, but the Frost responded with a narrow 2-1 overtime win in Game 2.

This matchup marked a historic moment as it was the first triple-overtime game in PWHL Finals history.
