Alanna Smith led the Minnesota Lynx to an 80-76 victory against the Washington Mystics on Friday night, scoring 25 points and helping her team improve to an impressive 16-1 at home this season.

In a tense final stretch, both Smith and rookie Sonia Citron of Washington showcased their scoring prowess, each contributing eight consecutive points. With just under three minutes remaining, Citron's three-point play narrowed the gap to 71-70, but Smith quickly responded with her fourth three-pointer, maintaining Minnesota's lead.

As the clock ticked down to 59 seconds, Citron hit a crucial three-pointer from the wing, leveling the score at 76. However, Williams countered with a baseline jumper, putting the Lynx back in front.

In a pivotal moment, Washington's Sug Sutton was fouled with 36 seconds left, but after a review, the call was overturned. The Mystics managed to win the subsequent jump ball, yet Citron's attempt in the lane resulted in a turnover.

Kayla McBride then secured the win for Minnesota by sinking two free throws in the closing moments.

DiJonai Carrington made her home debut for the Lynx after being traded from Dallas, contributing 12 points. McBride added 11 points to the Lynx's total, while Napheesa Collier sat out due to a right ankle injury.

For Washington, Citron finished with a game-high 26 points and four three-pointers. Kiki Iriafen and Shakira Austin each chipped in with 12 points.

Bridget Carleton's jumper from the free throw line just before halftime gave Minnesota a slight edge at 38-35. The Lynx struggled from beyond the arc, hitting only 2 of 13 three-point attempts in the first half, while the Mystics were hindered by 13 turnovers during that period.
