Minnesota United Ends Winless Streak with 2-1 Victory Over FC Dallas

Carlos Harvey and Anthony Markanich propelled Minnesota United to a 2-1 victory over FC Dallas on Friday night, ending a four-game winless streak. Dayne St. Clair showcased his skills with five crucial saves throughout the match.

The scoring opened in the 35th minute when Julian Gressel delivered a precise free kick from the left flank. Harvey, unmarked at the back post, capitalized on the opportunity, slotting the ball home to give Minnesota a 1-0 advantage.

Markanich extended the lead to 2-0 in the 58th minute, tapping in a header into an empty net. The sequence began with Michael Boxall's throw-in from the right side, which was deflected to Markanich, who finished from close range.

FC Dallas, now on a three-game losing streak, struggled to find their rhythm. Despite a strong start, they were outshot 10-3 in the second half after Minnesota had launched 14 shots in the first.

Logan Farrington found the net for Dallas in the 73rd minute, connecting with an arcing ball from Petar Musa. Meanwhile, Maarten Paes, known simply as "Maarten," recorded five saves for the home team.

Earlier this season, the two teams played to a scoreless draw on April 19, but Minnesota's performance on this night marked a significant turnaround.

Markanich's goal was his fourth of the season, marking a career high for the 25-year-old defender, who had previously scored just once in his first three MLS seasons.
