Nelly Furtado turned heads at the Women for Women’s event this week, donning a striking silk bodysuit that highlighted her bold fashion sense. This appearance comes just months after she took a stand against online body shamers.
At the Toronto gathering, Furtado showcased a midnight blue jumpsuit featuring a corset-style bodice and delicate spaghetti straps. She complemented the outfit with a matching blazer, cinched at the waist with a sash, and completed the look with sparkling pump heels.
Her makeup was soft pink, accentuated by several rings and eye-catching statement earrings. As she accepted the Trailblazer award, the audience erupted in applause, celebrating her achievements.

This appearance follows a notable moment last August when the “Powerless” singer, now 47, made headlines for her pointed fashion statement at Manchester Pride. She performed in an oversized shirt adorned with a drawing of an hourglass figure, complete with a crop top and miniskirt, alongside a belt that read “Whoa Nelly,” a nod to her 2000 debut album.
The back of the shirt featured a cartoon body tattooed with “Better than ever” in cursive. During her performance, she lifted the shirt to reveal boy shorts, showcasing her confidence amidst criticism.
In January 2025, Furtado addressed speculation about her body while wearing a bright orange halter bikini on Instagram. “This year I became aware of the aesthetic pressure of my work in a brand new way,” she wrote, emphasizing newfound self-love and urging fans to embrace body neutrality.
“For whoever cares, I have never had any face or body surgeries or augmentation, besides for veneers on the top row of my teeth, quite recently,” she clarified. “So far, I have not had any face or lip injections or fillers of any kind.”
In October, Furtado announced her decision to step back from performing to explore other creative avenues. “25 years later, my music has reached a whole new generation of fans and I couldn’t be happier about that,” she reflected on Instagram while celebrating the 25th anniversary of her debut album.
“I have decided to step away from performance for the foreseeable future and pursue some other creative and personal endeavours that I feel would better suit this next phase of my life,” she shared. “I’m grateful for all the years of fun, community and wonder.”
