NFL Players Set to Shine in Flag Football at 2028 Olympics!
Big news for NFL fans! So, the NFL owners just gave a thumbs-up for players to hit the field in flag football at the 2028 Olympics. Yup, you heard that right! This decision came during the spring meetings, and it’s a game-changer for the league.
They voted unanimously, which is pretty rare, to let the league work out safety rules and scheduling with the NFL Players Association and other governing bodies. This means we could actually see NFL stars competing in Los Angeles during the Summer Games.
But here’s the catch: only one player from each NFL team can join the Olympic squad. The national committees will pick who gets to represent their country, so it’s gonna be a big deal.
Flag football is a five-on-five, non-contact sport, making it a bit different from the usual tackle football we’re used to. The International Olympic Committee gave it the nod as an Olympic sport back in October 2023, alongside other cool sports like baseball/softball, cricket, lacrosse, and squash.
The NFL has been pushing hard to grow the sport globally. Next season, they’re planning to play seven regular-season games outside the U.S. in places like Brazil, Germany, the UK, Spain, and Ireland. So, yeah, the NFL is really trying to take over the world!
