In a thrilling showdown on Sunday night, Orlando City took down Inter Miami with a convincing 3-0 victory in the Florida Derby, marking their unbeaten streak at an impressive 11 games. Luis Muriel kicked things off with a goal just before halftime, and Marco Pašalić added another early in the second half to seal the deal.
Orlando City, now sitting at 6-2-6, hasn’t tasted defeat since their 2-1 loss to New York City FC back on March 8. It’s been a solid run for the team, and they’re definitely riding high on this momentum.
Pedro Gallese was a standout, making four saves and notching his sixth shutout of the season. Oh, and he also managed to grab the second assist of his MLS career, which is pretty cool for a goalkeeper.
Muriel opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, thanks to a perfectly timed ball from Gallese. Muriel sprinted past the defense and finished smoothly from the right-center of the area, putting Orlando up 1-0 at halftime.
Then, just eight minutes into the second half, Pašalić struck with a first-touch shot from near the penalty spot, extending the lead to 2-0.
To cap it all off, Dagur Thorhallsson scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time, converting a cross from Duncan McGuire with a quick one-touch shot from close range.
On the other side, Miami’s Oscar Ustari made five saves, while Luis Suárez made his return after missing two games for personal reasons. Despite having 62% possession and outshooting Orlando 21-16, Miami couldn’t find the back of the net.
