Kelce and Swift, both 35, made their engagement public on the same day. In a joint Instagram post, they humorously announced, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” accompanied by a series of enchanting photos from a garden setting where Kelce proposed.
Among the images shared was a close-up of Swift’s stunning new engagement ring, capturing the attention of fans and followers alike. The couple first sparked dating rumors in September 2023 when Swift attended one of Kelce’s games in Kansas City, marking the beginning of their high-profile romance.
Since then, Swift has become a familiar face within Chiefs Kingdom, forging a friendship with Mahomes’ wife, Brittany. Brittany also expressed her joy over the engagement on her Instagram Story, stating, “Two of the most genuine people meet & fall in love. Just so happy for these two.”
Reflecting on their double dates, Mahomes previously described the experience as refreshingly normal. “We were just having fun and enjoying a dinner just like anyone else would,” he shared with The Athletic in August 2024. “It’s just friendship, fellowship and enjoying everyone’s success.”
Mahomes emphasized that despite the whirlwind of attention surrounding Kelce’s relationship with Swift, his friend remains grounded. “It’s a huge platform and everyone in the world can see it, deservedly so because of how great Taylor is, but it’s still Travis,” he noted. “That’s what makes it so cool, even though it’s such a big thing for the world.”
