Peyton Manning Joins Ownership Group of Denver NWSL Team

Jun 03 2025

Peyton Manning, the legendary former quarterback of the Denver Broncos and a member of the NFL Hall of Fame, has officially joined the ownership group of Denver NWSL, a professional women's soccer team set to debut next year. The announcement was made on Tuesday.

Leading the ownership group is Rob Cohen, alongside a diverse array of investors including Jon-Erik Borgen, Kaia Borgen Moritz, Neelima Joshi, Dhiren Jhaveri, Mellody Hobson, Molly Coors, and Olympic champion Mikaela Shiffrin. Their collective vision is to establish a club that prioritizes inclusivity and community engagement within the realm of professional soccer.

"It's a real honor to be part of something so meaningful to the Colorado community," Manning expressed in the announcement. "I'm proud to support the growth of women's sports and excited to help build a club that our city and our state can rally behind."

The announcement featured a playful video with Manning and his brother Eli, where Peyton quipped, "Remember you were telling me the reason you liked the NWSL is because you didn't have to compete with me? Well..."

Eli Manning, who has his own stake in Gotham FC, New York's women's pro soccer team, previously played for the New York Giants and secured two Super Bowl victories during his career.

In January, the National Women's Soccer League confirmed that Denver would be home to its next franchise. By March, plans for a new 12,000-seat stadium dedicated to the team were unveiled. This will mark the league's 16th team, with play scheduled to commence in 2026.

"Peyton's legacy as a champion and a leader is second to none," Cohen remarked. "His impact on Colorado sports is unmatched, and we're incredibly proud to have him as a partner. He brings passion, insight, and deep local roots - all of which will help us shape the future of Denver NWSL."

Currently without a name or roster, this soccer team represents Colorado's inaugural professional women's soccer franchise.

As preparations ramp up for the upcoming season, discussions are underway regarding a potential new training facility for women’s soccer in Centennial.
