Red Sox Ball Attendant Eyes MLB All-Star Game Opportunity
Jacque Harrington stands poised at the intersection of dreams and reality, a ball attendant for the Boston Red Sox for three seasons. Her journey began on the first and third base lines, where she has embraced a role she once thought was beyond reach.
"I never thought it could be a reality," Harrington reflected, her voice tinged with nostalgia. A Bedford, New Hampshire native, she recalls her childhood visits to Fenway Park, captivated by the attendants she admired from afar. "I grew up a Red Sox fan. I would see the attendants on the field and think that's so cool. I just never thought it would be attainable."
This year, a pivotal catch during the Patriots' Day game caught the attention of Major League Baseball, opening the door for Harrington to compete for a spot at the upcoming All-Star Game.
In a unique online fan voting competition, four ball attendants from various teams are vying for two coveted positions. The deadline for voting is set for Tuesday at 11:59 PM, adding an element of urgency to Harrington's aspirations.
Among a select group of women serving as ball attendants for the Red Sox, Harrington's background is noteworthy. She graduated from Providence College in 2024, where she played softball as a Friar. This week, her former team expressed their support via social media.

What Harrington cherishes most about her role is the connection she fosters with fans seated mere feet away. "The fans at Fenway Park are truly one of a kind," she stated. "They are so supportive and fun. They love to have conversations with me and ask about what I do."
The excitement builds as the All-Star Game approaches, scheduled for July 15 in Atlanta, where Harrington hopes to make her mark.
