‘South Park’ Takes Aim at Trump’s Police Control with Humor and Satire

Aug 21 2025

“South Park” unleashed its signature satire on the Trump administration Wednesday, tackling the controversial federal control of Washington, D.C.’s police force.

In this episode, the character “Towelie,” a sentient towel, rides a bus past iconic sites like the Supreme Court and the Capitol, while armed troops patrol the streets. A tank rolls ominously in front of the White House, underscoring the episode's critical tone.

While primarily focused on artificial intelligence, the half-hour segment also lampooned global leaders and tech moguls for their subservience to President Donald Trump. Towelie eventually finds himself in the Oval Office with Trump, adding another layer to the episode's biting commentary.

Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone recently secured a staggering $1.5 billion deal with Paramount, ensuring new episodes and streaming rights for their long-running series, which is currently in its 27th season.

The second episode of this season featured Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem in a controversial scene where she shoots puppies, referencing her own biography where she recounted having to euthanize her family dog due to behavioral issues. The portrayal included Noem being followed by a team of beauticians tasked with reattaching her face.

In response to the episode, Noem remarked, “It’s so easy to make fun of women for how they look,” highlighting the ongoing discourse around representation and satire.

The season premiere had already stirred controversy by depicting Trump in a risqué scenario alongside Satan, a theme that resurfaced in Wednesday’s episode.

Despite the White House dismissing “South Park” as irrelevant, the show continues to draw significant viewership; Comedy Central reported that the Noem episode achieved the highest audience share in its history, indicating a strong engagement from viewers during its broadcast.
