Tom Felton Calls Jason Isaacs 'Dad' and Shares Excitement for New Harry Potter Projects!
Tom Felton, known for his role as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter series, recently chatted with PEOPLE about his enduring friendships with his former co-stars during the grand opening of the Harry Potter Shop in Chicago.
Before he took on the role of the scheming dad Timothy Ratliff in HBO's The White Lotus, Jason Isaacs was already making waves as Lucius Malfoy, Draco's father in the Harry Potter films. For Felton, Isaacs will always hold a special place in his heart, as he affectionately refers to him as "Dad."
In his interview, the 37-year-old actor expressed how close he remains with his former castmates, particularly Isaacs. "I still call him 'Dad,'" Felton shared, emphasizing their strong bond. He recalled their last encounter, noting that Isaacs was preparing to head to Thailand for filming The White Lotus. "I was thrilled to watch him do his thing," he added.

Felton also shared his thoughts on the much-anticipated finale of The White Lotus, which spanned a dramatic 90 minutes. "It was great. I'm a big fan of the show, and the cinematography is so beautiful," he remarked. He praised the series for its "wickedly complex character storylines" and expressed his admiration for creator Mike White, saying, "I've had a lot of fun watching it."
Looking ahead, Felton is excited about the upcoming Harry Potter project currently in development at HBO. "I think we’re all very excited to see the wizarding world continue," he said, although he mentioned that he and his former castmates haven't discussed the new series yet. "I look forward to knocking on young Draco's door and surprising him, or something like that," he joked.
Felton also playfully mentioned that he would love to sneak into a background shot as an extra, adding a light-hearted touch to the conversation. "I’ll definitely be sneaking into a background shot as an extra," he said with a smile.

The new Harry Potter Shop, located on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, is a dream come true for fans. It features an extensive range of house and movie merchandise, a vast selection of candy seen in the films, and a speakeasy-inspired Butterbeer Bar complete with bakery treats. This store marks the fourth Harry Potter shop globally, following locations in London, New York City, and Tokyo.
Stepping into the store brought back a wave of nostalgia for Felton, who reminisced about his time on the Warner Bros. lot in England. "Not only does seeing the house colors bring me back to being Team Slytherin all the way," he said, "but the experience of the store is magical, for lack of a better pun."
Felton even shared a video of the store with the Harry Potter cast WhatsApp group, highlighting the close-knit nature of the cast. "We’re all very tight still, very close," he said. "We’re usually in four corners of the earth at the same time, so it’s difficult to round us all up together. But Slytherins and Gryffindors are friendly."
