Travis Kelce Reflects on Record-Breaking Touchdown Amidst Team Struggles

Nov 19 2025

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is making headlines as he rewrites the franchise's touchdown record, yet his focus remains firmly on the playoffs. The three-time Super Bowl champion recently achieved a significant milestone, but the joy of the accomplishment was overshadowed by a disappointing loss.

After breaking the Chiefs' all-time touchdown record, Kelce, 36, shared his mixed feelings during a conversation with his brother, Jason Kelce, on their podcast "New Heights." “It’s an honor, man,” he remarked on November 19. “Obviously, right now it’s soured because it’s coming off a f***ing loss. Our fifth loss of the season.” He expressed deep respect for the organization and those who paved the way for his success in the NFL.

The record-breaking touchdown occurred in the fourth quarter of a game against the Denver Broncos on November 16, where his 84th career touchdown briefly put the Chiefs ahead 19-16 before they ultimately lost 22-19. This achievement tied him with Chiefs legend Priest Holmes, a record he had matched just weeks earlier against the Washington Commanders.

Reflecting on Kansas City's football legacy, Travis acknowledged Holmes and the impact he had on his childhood dreams. “Shout-out to Priest Holmes yet again,” he said, reminiscing about their admiration for the former player.

Despite his frustration with the team's performance, which led him to skip media interviews post-game, Travis found solace in the camaraderie within the locker room. “I just love coming into work,” he stated. “When you come into work with the right mindset and right attitude... you start to pile up some stats.”

Jason Kelce, 38, praised his brother's achievement, calling him the "Big Yeti" and emphasizing that Travis deserves recognition for his hard work. He also defended the Chiefs' current standing at 5-5, noting that four of their losses were by a single score. “One or two plays going the other way could have flipped the outcome,” he pointed out, suggesting that Kansas City could easily be leading the AFC.

Both brothers expressed confidence in this year's team, even favoring it over last year's 15-2 squad. As they wrapped up their discussion about Travis's record-breaking game, he redirected attention back to his teammates. “I’m just a product of my environment and I love Kansas City for it,” he said. “Let’s go ahead and keep adding to that f***ing record baby and score some more touchdowns this year and try to get us into the playoffs this year.”

The Chiefs are set to face off against the Indianapolis Colts at home on Sunday, November 23, as they aim to turn their season around.
