Twins Welcome Byron Buxton Back from Concussion List

May 31 2025

The Minnesota Twins activated center fielder Byron Buxton from the seven-day concussion injured list on Friday, just in time for their three-game series against Seattle. This decision comes two weeks after Buxton collided with shortstop Carlos Correa while chasing a shallow fly ball.

“Today is a very good day for us,” remarked manager Rocco Baldelli. “Byron completed all of his protocol testing successfully. He was cleared on the last day in Tampa, so we knew he would be back for today’s game. Everything went smoothly, and he’s eager to return to the field.”

Buxton's absence lasted 11 games, during which Correa also entered concussion protocol but returned after the minimum seven-day stint, missing only five games.

In a roster move to accommodate Buxton's return, outfielder Carson McCusker was optioned back to Triple-A St. Paul. Buxton has been performing well this season, boasting a .261 batting average, an .834 OPS, and 18 extra-base hits, including 10 home runs. Additionally, he has recorded 33 runs, 27 RBIs, and eight stolen bases across 41 games.
