Tyreek Hill's Knee Injury Overshadows Dolphins' Victory

Sep 30 2025

During the Miami Dolphins' matchup against the New York Jets on September 29, star wide receiver Tyreek Hill sustained a significant knee injury that has left fans and teammates in shock. The incident occurred in the third quarter at Hard Rock Stadium when Hill attempted to brace himself after a tackle, resulting in his knee becoming trapped beneath him.

Reports from ESPN confirmed on September 30 that Hill had torn his ACL along with other ligaments in his knee, sidelining him for the remainder of the 2025 season. A surgical procedure is scheduled to address the damage.

As Hill lay on the field, trainers quickly placed his leg in an air cast before he was transported off the field via cart. An ambulance then took him to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel addressed reporters post-game, revealing that Hill would remain in the hospital overnight. “I know he’s at the hospital. I know he’s staying overnight,” McDaniel stated. “I know it was a dislocation.” His comments reflected both concern and admiration for Hill’s demeanor during the ordeal.

“He was probably in the best spirits of any player that I’ve ever had,” McDaniel continued. “He immediately had wide eyes and was talking, ‘I’m good, just make sure the guys get this win.’”

Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, accompanied him in the ambulance, providing support during the tense moments following the injury.

The severity of Hill's injury resonated deeply with his teammates. Running back De’Von Achane recounted Hill’s surprising positivity despite the circumstances. “He was smiling, still making jokes,” Achane said. “I was like, ‘Bro, you just got hurt.’”

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa expressed gratitude during his postgame remarks, offering prayers for Hill’s recovery. “Just want to thank [God] for this victory and keeping us safe, for the most part,” Tagovailoa noted, adding, “All glory belongs to God.”

Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle shared his mixed emotions regarding Hill’s absence. “It’s tough having one of our captains, leader, and a player that just means so much to the team,” Waddle reflected. “It’s just sad anytime you see someone go down. A guy of that stature. What he means to the team. What he means to the game of football. His legacy.”

Support poured in from across the league, including a message from former teammate Patrick Mahomes, who took to social media to express his solidarity. “Prayers up man…,” Mahomes wrote on X.

Former Dolphins offensive lineman Terron Armstead shared a personal update from Hill after he arrived at the hospital. “I just got a FaceTime call from my brother @cheetah,” Armstead posted. “First thing he said ‘man I’m just happy we got that win!! He’s in good spirits and said he was laughing through the pain, to avoid passing out!! Crazy! Praying for best news possible and speedy recovery!”

Before his injury, Hill had recorded six catches for 67 yards, bringing his season totals to 21 receptions for 265 yards and one touchdown over four games. Despite losing their star player, the Dolphins managed to secure a 27-21 victory against the Jets. They are set to face off against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, October 5th.
