35th Annual Chosen Few Picnic and Festival Set for Saturday in Jackson Park

Jul 11 2025

This Saturday, Jackson Park will transform into a vibrant hub of music and community as the Chosen Few Picnic and Festival kicks off its 35th annual celebration.

With a lineup featuring DJs from across the nation, attendees can expect a colossal house party that spans 12 hours, drawing an estimated crowd of around 40,000 music lovers.

“Even when it’s packed, there’s always room for more,” DJ Lori Branch remarked, emphasizing the festival's welcoming atmosphere. “It’s a huge space; don’t believe the hype. It’s not sold out—you can show up that day and still have a great time.”

DJ Mike Dunn reflected on the festival's evolution from its humble beginnings. “It started as a little backyard gathering at the Hatchets’ home, just family and friends enjoying music. Then it moved behind the museum, and eventually across the street. It just kept growing from there,” he explained.

As a cornerstone of Chicago's rich musical heritage, the festival remains a significant event in the city known as the birthplace of house music. “The Chosen Few DJs and festival is the largest of its kind globally, and it’s the longest-running festival dedicated to preserving and celebrating house music culture,” Branch added.

Taking place in the 6400 block of South Stony Island Avenue, this one-day event promises to be a memorable experience for all attendees.
