Athletics Draft Florida State Pitcher Jamie Arnold with 11th Overall Pick
The Oakland Athletics made a strategic move in the 2025 MLB Draft, selecting Jamie Arnold, a left-handed pitcher from Florida State, with the 11th overall pick.
Arnold, 21, showcased impressive stats last season, finishing with a 2.98 ERA and an 8-2 record across 15 starts for the Seminoles. His performance included striking out 119 batters, placing him 10th nationally, while limiting opponents to a .208 batting average.
Over three seasons at Florida State, Arnold compiled a solid 21-10 record, maintaining a 3.61 ERA and amassing 327 strikeouts in 234.1 innings pitched.
Hailing from Tampa, Florida, Arnold attended Jesuit High School before making his mark in college baseball.
In previous drafts, the Athletics have made notable selections, including first baseman Nick Kurtz with the fourth overall pick last year and shortstop Jacob Wilson, who was picked sixth overall in 2023 and is set to start for the American League at the upcoming All-Star Game.
Looking ahead, the Athletics have 18 more picks in the 2025 draft, with their next selection slated to be the 48th overall.
