Brewers Dominate Twins 9-0 Behind Quintana's Stellar Performance

Jun 21 2025

Jose Quintana delivered a masterful performance on the mound, allowing just three hits over six innings as the Milwaukee Brewers triumphed over the Minnesota Twins with a commanding 9-0 victory on Saturday.

Isaac Collins shone offensively for Milwaukee, contributing two hits and driving in three runs, while Brice Turang also had a notable game with two hits and two runs scored. This win marked the Brewers' third consecutive victory, pushing their record to 42-35, a season-high seven games above .500.

In stark contrast, the Twins struggled at the plate, managing only four hits in what was their eighth loss in nine games. Their recent performance included a heavy defeat of 17-6 in the series opener on Friday.

The game unfolded under an excessive heat warning, with temperatures feeling like 105 degrees and minimal breeze, adding to the challenge for both teams.

Quintana (5-2) showcased his skills by striking out four batters and issuing one walk. Following his exit, Grant Anderson pitched an inning before Aaron Ashby closed out the game, preserving the shutout for Milwaukee.

On the other side, Twins right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson (2-4) faced difficulties, surrendering four runs—three earned—on four hits across six innings.

Milwaukee's offense was quick to strike, scoring two runs in each of the first two innings. Turang's sacrifice fly opened the scoring in the first inning, followed by Christian Yelich's RBI single that extended the lead to 4-0 in the second.

A misplay by Harrison Bader on a fly ball allowed Turang to score during a three-run eighth inning for Milwaukee. Additionally, Caleb Durbin's hustle beat a throw to second base that could have initiated a double play, instead loading the bases with no outs in the second inning.

In a disappointing turn for Minnesota, Brooks Lee grounded out three times, ending his impressive 19-game hitting streak—the longest active streak in Major League Baseball.

Looking ahead, right-hander Quinn Priester (5-2, 3.46 ERA) is set to take the mound for Milwaukee on Sunday against Minnesota's right-hander David Festa (1-1, 4.78 ERA).
