Cam Skattebo, the New York Giants rookie running back, continues to make waves even from the sidelines. Following a season-ending ankle injury sustained on October 26 during a game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Skattebo has remained a vibrant presence.
His latest endeavor took him to Arizona State University, where he served as the honorary captain for the football team during their rivalry game against Arizona on November 28 at Sun Devil Stadium. Riding a scooter to protect his injured ankle, Skattebo made a memorable entrance, rolling down the field as the student section erupted in cheers.
Current ASU players welcomed him warmly, amplifying the electric atmosphere. “Great to see him. Everybody loves ‘Skat,’” remarked ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham. “Skat was a big piece of this team last year. He’s a big piece of Arizona State moving forward.”

Skattebo, who played for the Sun Devils from 2023 to 2024 before being drafted by the Giants in 2025, was officially announced as the honorary captain just days prior to the game. This marked his first return to Tempe as an alumnus.
“I haven’t really mentioned it to the guys yet. But he’s fired up, I’m fired up,” Dillingham expressed after the announcement. “It’s what college football is supposed to be. You should graduate from the school and have a passion about that place and come back to that place and feel like you’re at home.”
Despite the Sun Devils suffering a 23-7 defeat, Skattebo received a heartfelt welcome. “It was great, just seeing the impact that ‘Skat’ has on the community, on the fans, on the whole Sun Devil Nation,” said defensive back Keith Abney II. “It was great just having him back, having his energy there.”
This appearance was not Skattebo’s first since his injury, nor will it likely be his last. Known for his dynamic personality, he has been actively engaging with fans on Twitch since his injury and made headlines with an appearance on WWE Raw at Madison Square Garden on November 17.
During that event, tensions flared when WWE superstar Dominik Mysterio confronted Skattebo ringside, leading to a brief altercation that thrilled the audience but drew mixed reactions from former NFL players.
Jeff Saturday, a former Indianapolis Colts player and head coach, voiced his concerns on ESPN’s Get Up. “I think the risk-reward in this situation probably wasn’t well thought-out,” he stated. “Whether you like it or not, he did get pushed pretty hard.”

In response to criticism, Skattebo took to social media the following day. “Aye, honestly if you don’t like that I’m having a good time while dealing with a tough time, then just go ahead and unfollow and casually move on,” he wrote via X. “I’m not able to play football and have the fun I’ve been having my whole life so I am doing things outside the box trying to find stuff to keep me happy.”
