Chiefs' Mike Danna Plans Engagement Gift for Taylor Swift

Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Mike Danna is contemplating a unique engagement gift for pop star Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce, who recently announced their engagement.

During a press session on Tuesday, shortly after the couple's engagement news broke, Danna, 27, expressed his intention to find something memorable for the newly engaged pair. “I’ll think of a good little engagement gift,” he remarked. “It will be something special for them. Maybe some Pop-Tarts back to her. It won’t be homemade.”

Swift’s homemade Pop-Tarts have gained a legendary status within the Chiefs organization, particularly after she baked a batch for the team’s linemen last season. Danna recalled the experience with enthusiasm. “Listen, them things will get you in trouble,” he said. “Those are dessert and those are fire. If you have one, best believe you’re gonna want two. Maybe three. She did Pop-Tarts for the whole position groups. The D-line was all over those.”

As soon as the linemen discovered the treats were from Swift, they eagerly requested more. “As soon as we found out it was from her, we were like, ‘Yeah, we need about four more boxes of those,’” Danna added.

Swift’s baking prowess left such an impression that fellow offensive lineman Chris Jones sought out her recipe. “You know what, shout-out to Tay Tay,” Jones, 31, shared in February. “Her Pop-Tarts are amazing.” He further praised her skills, saying, “I was asking Trav [Kelce] because I don’t know how she gets the crust of the Pop-Tarts so fire. The crust tastes like biscuits, I swear to you. But, shout-out to Tay Tay, she’s a real one.”

Danna addressed reporters just moments after learning about Kelce and Swift’s engagement. “I just got told 30 seconds ago,” he said. “But that’s awesome. I’m so happy for them — Trav, Taylor, that’s a wonderful time in their life. A wonderful part of their journey. That’s a beautiful thing to see.”

Though he has only met Swift “once or twice,” Danna expressed his excitement for their future together. “That’s a great thing to see,” he noted. “Seeing them settle down, seeing all [those] happy smiles and happy faces between the two.”

Kelce returned to practice on Tuesday, just hours after sharing the engagement news on Instagram. His post humorously stated, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 😊,” accompanied by a series of photos from the proposal.

The Chiefs are set to travel to São Paulo, Brazil, to kick off their regular season against the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday, September 5.
