Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones has removed himself from social media platforms following a tough loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on October 6. The 31-year-old athlete faced scrutiny after the game, particularly from head coach Andy Reid.
During the critical moments of the game, Jones appeared to struggle as Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence scored the decisive touchdown. Reid, addressing the media two days later, emphasized the need for players to remain alert. “You can’t think that the guy’s down,” Reid stated. “You gotta just play the play; he knows. He’s been around this thing a long time, that’s really what it came down to.”
Drafted by the Chiefs in 2016, Jones has established himself as a three-time All-Pro, dedicating his entire NFL career to the franchise. After the game, he reflected on the play that led to the Jaguars' victory. “I thought multiple times we had him,” Jones explained. “We just gotta finish. It was a fluke play for him to be able to break that many tackles. I put it on us as a defense. We gotta finish.”

Support for Jones came from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes during a radio interview. “I believe in Chris Jones no matter what, man,” Mahomes said. “He’s done so much for this team and for this organization, being a leader.” He further noted that Jones has been instrumental throughout his career and highlighted the importance of character in evaluating players.
The Chiefs are currently facing challenges with a 2-3 record, struggling to find consistency on both offense and defense. Mahomes acknowledged the team's issues, stating, “We’ve crushed ourselves with penalties and mistakes and interceptions and fumbles or whatever that is. We’ve kinda done that to ourselves all season long.”
As they prepare for their next game against the Detroit Lions on October 12, Mahomes stressed the urgency for improvement: “We’ve lost too many games already. We’ve got to find a way to be better as a team, come together and play better throughout the rest of the season.”
The Chiefs will look to turn their season around as they face off against the Lions at Arrowhead Stadium.
