Dallas Stars GM Jim Nill Announces Coaching Change

Dallas Stars general manager Jim Nill confirmed the firing of head coach Pete DeBoer, stating it was "time for a change." This announcement came shortly after the team concluded its season.

During a press conference on Friday, Nill described the day as "tough," revealing he had a candid discussion with DeBoer earlier that morning to communicate the decision.

"He's a great man. He's a great coach. He had great success here in Dallas. I have the utmost respect for him as a person and a coach," Nill remarked, emphasizing the difficulty of the choice. "Ultimately, it's my responsibility to make decisions that are in the best interest of the organization moving forward."

The decision stemmed from year-end evaluations and feedback from players, according to Nill. "It's a decision we have to make," he reiterated, underscoring the weight of the choice.

DeBoer led the Stars to three consecutive Western Conference Final appearances, yet the team fell short of advancing further in each instance.
