Divorce Filing: Ashley Harkleroad's Husband Splits from Tennis Star-Turned-Playboy Model

Apr 21 2026

A divorce petition has been filed by Chuck Adams against Ashley Harkleroad, marking the end of their 16-year marriage. The filing occurred on April 14, with Adams, 54, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the basis for the separation, according to court documents.

In the legal proceedings, Adams is pursuing joint custody of their two children: Charlie, 17, a promising basketball player in the class of 2028, and Cissy, 15, who is sponsored by Fila as a tennis player. While he seeks joint custody, physical custody is expected to remain with Harkleroad, with Adams requesting visitation rights.

Additionally, Adams has asked the court to eliminate any potential spousal support obligations towards Harkleroad. He plans to revise his divorce petition once he has clarified his current financial situation regarding assets and debts.

The couple married in September 2009, a year after Harkleroad graced the cover of Playboy in August 2008. Harkleroad, who once ranked in the top 40 of the WTA, stepped away from professional tennis in 2012. Following her retirement, she served as a commentator and analyst for the Tennis Channel for nearly a decade.

Chuck Adams, a former top-30 ATP player who retired in 1997, achieved an ATP singles title in Seoul in 1993. Notably, he also coached Harkleroad during part of her career. Before her marriage to Adams, Harkleroad was previously wed to fellow tennis professional Alex Bogomolov Jr.
