Inter Miami CF confirmed the signing of Argentine midfielder Rodrigo De Paul on loan from Atlético de Madrid, a move that promises to elevate the team's competitive edge.
The agreement extends through the 2025 Major League Soccer season, with an option for a permanent transfer lasting until 2029. This strategic acquisition reflects the club's ambition to build a formidable squad.
Pending the acquisition of his P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate, De Paul, who boasts a World Cup title with Argentina, is expected to bring "elite, title-winning experience" to the roster.
"Our goal is to assemble a team that inspires our fans to dream," stated Jorge Mas, managing owner of Inter Miami. "Signing a player of Rodrigo's caliber is a thrilling step forward. He is a proven winner on the world stage, and his ambitions align perfectly with ours."
Co-owner David Beckham expressed his admiration for De Paul, noting, "I've followed Rodrigo for many years. His leadership and contributions to his teams, particularly the national team, have been remarkable."
Fans will have the opportunity to welcome De Paul during a pregame ceremony at Chase Stadium on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET, just before Inter Miami faces FC Cincinnati.
"My motivation for joining Inter Miami stems from a desire to compete and win titles," De Paul remarked. "This club is on the path to greatness, and I am excited to contribute to its history."
With nearly 500 matches under his belt across top leagues in Argentina, Spain, and Italy, De Paul has made 78 appearances for Argentina's senior national team since 2018. His contributions were pivotal in securing the 2022 FIFA World Cup title and victories in the 2021 and 2024 Copa América tournaments.
His extensive club career includes tenures at Racing Club, Valencia, Udinese, and Atlético de Madrid, where he played 187 matches alongside future Inter Miami teammate Luis Suárez.
