Lollapalooza 2025: Arrests Increase Slightly, Ambulance Transports Decrease
Cleanup crews have commenced their work in Grant Park following the conclusion of Lollapalooza, with efforts expected to last several days.
Weather conditions were favorable throughout the festival, as air quality alerts related to wildfire smoke diminished.
According to a festival representative, attendance for Lollapalooza 2025 mirrored that of 2024, with approximately 115,000 attendees each day, matching the festival's daily capacity.
However, data from Chicago's Office of Emergency Management and Communications revealed a slight uptick in arrests this year, contrasting with a decrease in ambulance transports.
In 2024, the festival recorded its lowest arrest figures in five years, with only nine individuals taken into custody over the four-day event.
This year, that figure rose to 12 arrests, indicating a minor increase.
Conversely, ambulance transports to local hospitals fell significantly, dropping from 63 last year to just 42 this year.
Additionally, the lost-and-found inventory appears to be notably reduced. Items such as sunglasses, jewelry, and walkie-talkies were among those reported missing.
Organizers noted that the volume of lost items is considerably lower than in previous years.
The lost-and-found operation at Lollapalooza typically requires several days to finalize. This year, officials observed a marked decrease in inventory at the Grand Traditions Room located at the Hilton Chicago, situated at 720 S. Michigan Ave., directly across from Grant Park.
As road closures implemented for Lollapalooza concluded on Monday, some restrictions around Balbo and Jackson drives will remain in effect through the weekend as cleanup efforts continue.
