Nikki Bella Embraces Son Matteo's Wrestling Aspirations
Nikki Bella stepped back into the WWE spotlight on June 9, marking her first appearance in six years. Engaging in a heated exchange with Liv Morgan, Bella found herself face down in the ring, yet she described the experience as “super empowering.”
At just four years old, her son Matteo has developed a keen interest in wrestling. “I’ve been watching Raw, so he’ll sit and watch with me,” Bella shared. “It’s funny because he loves the women’s wrestling. But then all of a sudden he’ll wanna wrestle me and I can see it in him.”
Matteo is the son of Bella and her ex-husband Artem Chigvintsev, with their divorce finalized in December 2024. Bella expressed confidence in her son's potential wrestling style, stating, “Matteo would totally be a high flyer. He has a lot of grace and is super athletic. He’s an incredible dancer.”
If Matteo shows genuine interest in pursuing wrestling, Bella is ready to support him wholeheartedly. “They really care for their talent,” she noted about WWE’s current environment. “It’s just so different. I would fully embrace and love it.”

Both Nikki and her twin sister, Brie Bella, made their WWE debuts in June 2007 as the Bella Twins. Although they retired from full-time wrestling in 2019, they have made surprise appearances at various events, including Nikki’s participation in the 2025 Royal Rumble.
Brie shares two children with former WWE superstar Bryan Danielson: daughter Birdie, 8, and son Buddy, 4. Nikki revealed that she and Brie have already envisioned their sons teaming up in the ring. “Brie and I always say if our boys were like the Bella Boys, it would be so cute,” she gushed. “They’re pretty much like twins. I would be in heaven.”
Interestingly, Matteo and Buddy were born just one day apart. The prospect of them wrestling together seems plausible, as Nikki mentioned that Buddy is “already on his way to becoming a wrestler.”

Nikki is set to appear on WWE Raw next week in Green Bay, Wisconsin, as the company gears up for its second all-women’s Premium Live Event, Evolution, scheduled for July 13 in Atlanta.
