As the countdown to the FIFA World Cup 2026 begins, North Texas is buzzing with excitement. With only one year left, preparations are in full swing.

Monica Paul, the executive director of the Dallas Sports Commission and president of the North Texas FIFA World Cup 2026 Host Committee, addressed the media on Wednesday at Toyota Stadium in Frisco. The conference, held at 3 p.m., focused on the latest developments regarding the region's readiness for the prestigious event.

AT&T Stadium in Arlington is set to host nine matches, a significant highlight of the tournament. Key match dates are anticipated to draw large crowds and international attention.

Officials project that the economic impact of the tournament could range from $1.5 billion to $2.1 billion for the North Texas area, underscoring the event's importance to local businesses and tourism.

In addition, the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in downtown Dallas will function as the international broadcast center, expected to accommodate between 3,000 and 5,000 media professionals from around the globe.

Historically, Dallas has experience hosting major soccer events, having previously welcomed six matches during the 1994 FIFA World Cup at the iconic Cotton Bowl.
