PGA 3M Open Set to Make History with Unprecedented Player Field

Jun 30 2025

The countdown is officially on for the 2025 PGA 3M Open, scheduled to unfold at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota from July 21 to July 27.

This year’s tournament boasts an impressive lineup, with thirty of the top 80 players in the Official World Golf Rankings set to compete, marking it as the deepest field in the event's history.

The evolving structure of the PGA Tour, particularly with its signature events, has significantly influenced this year's participation. The 3M Open has become crucial for players aiming to secure their spots in the playoffs.

"These benchmarks have been set. And the players know that," remarked Mike Welch, Tournament Director for the 3M Open. "If they're anywhere from (number) 37 to 125, they're like, 'I gotta play these events.' And we just happen to be in a great spot in the schedule."

Once considered a less desirable date on the pro golf calendar, the 3M Open has transformed into a must-play event.

"We knew that this moment was coming," Welch continued. "Where it's like 'Hey, the depth of the field is just gonna be there.' We're still lacking around the top, top-end talent. If you're one to 10 (ranked player), you probably don't need to be here — being after the Open Championship, obviously, that presents some challenges — but if you're not, you're usually coming. So, we knew it was here and now we're reaping the rewards."

As summer storms continue to sweep through Minnesota, Superintendent Joe Rolstad remains hopeful for clearer skies as the tournament approaches.

"We can control. We can put a little water out if we need to. All the ponds are full out here right now," he stated.

For those interested in attending, tickets for the tournament are available online, along with details about the schedule and volunteer opportunities on the official 3M Open website.
