Production Begins for Season 2 of "The Pitt"
Filming for the second season of "The Pitt," a medical drama set in Pittsburgh and featuring Noah Wyle, is now in progress.
Max, the streaming service behind the series, shared behind-the-scenes images on Instagram, captioning one with "Paging Dr. Robby," confirming the production's active status.
Wyle portrays Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch in a show praised for its medical realism and innovative real-time storytelling, with each of its 15 hour-long episodes depicting a continuous 15-hour ER shift.
The series provides an authentic glimpse into the daily struggles faced by healthcare professionals, highlighting the experiences of frontline workers at a Pittsburgh hospital, as noted in Max's description.
While the majority of Season 1 was filmed on a Burbank, California set designed to resemble Allegheny General Hospital, the production team dedicated three days last September to capture footage in Pittsburgh. This included aerial drone shots over the hospital and various city locations, with some scenes filmed on the hospital's helipad. Reports indicate that Season 2 will also feature filming in Pittsburgh.
Produced by R. Scott Gemmill, John Wells, and Michael Hissrich—who all have a history of collaboration with Wyle on "ER"—the show benefits from its creators' ties to Carnegie Mellon University, further enhancing its local connection.
According to industry sources, Season 2 of "The Pitt" is expected to premiere in January 2026, with the storyline set approximately ten months after the conclusion of Season 1.
